A retired U.S. Navy Lieutenant, he was a member of the Houston Elks Club, the Van Buren Lions Club, Crawford County Conservation League and served as chairman of the building committee of the Van Buren Boys Club. He was a member of the Church of Latter Day Saints.
Survivors include his widow, Jeanne; two sons, Gary and Bradley of the home; his mother, Mrs. Joe Marlow of Maravian N.C.; and a brother, J.A. Ball of Kannapolis, N.C.

Prior to that, Mr. Ball had retired from the U.S. Navy in 1947 with the rank of lieutenant. He was born in upper New York state (Note: This is an error. He was born in Gilreath, NC) and lived in North Carolina prior to his enlisting in the Navy.
Since coming to Van Buren, he had been active in civic affairs, particularly in working with young people. He was a member of the Van Buren Boys' Club board of directors and was spearheading a drive as head of the Boy's Club building committee to construct a Boys' Club building, which has been started in the City Park. He also managed a girls softall team this past summer as part of the Van Buren Lions Club activities.
Mr. Ball was a member of the Houston Elks Club, the Van Buren Lions Club, the Crawford County Conservation League, and the Church of Latter Day Saints.
