George T. Barnhart enlisted in Company G. Iowa 6th Cavalry Regiment on 27 Dec. 1862. He was promoted to Full Bugler on the 25th of April 1863. He was wounded at the battle of White Stone Hill against the Indians on Sept. 3, 1863. He mustered out of service on October 17, 1865 at Sioux City, Iowa. He was 18 at the time of his enlistment. He served for just under 3 full years.
