Daughter of James Eves (1787-1875) and Susannah Miles Eves (1800-1874). She was born in Malta, Morgan County, Ohio. Her sibblings include: Lydia Eves(1818-1895), Hannah Eves (1820-?), Susannah Eves (1820-?), Ruth Ann Eves (1822-?), Mary M Eves (1832-1922), Agnes L Eves (1834-?), James Eves (1838-?), Clarkson C Eves (1839-?), George Eves (1841-?). She married Jessie Palmer (1829-1910) on October 6, 1850 in Malta, Morgan County, Ohio. They had the following children: Allie Palmer (dates unknown), Freddie Palmer (Dates unknown), Kittie Palmer (Dates unknown), Charles Curtis Palmer (1851-1917), Hannah Ann Palmer Hammond (1854-1915), William Richard Palmer (1858-1930), Oscar Clarke Palmer (1863-1930), Jennie Palmer (1869-Unknown death date), H Ernest Palmer (1872-1886), Jesse Edward Palmer (1875-1956). She died in 1919 and is buried here beside her parents, her husband and several of her children. They all share a large headstone that simply reads "Palmer".

Ellen S Eves, daughter of James and Susanna Eves was born in Malta, Ohio, March 28,1829, died at the home of her son Oscar near Albia, Saturday morning at 3:00 a.m., July 26, 1919, being at the time of her death, ninety years, three months and twenty-eight days old.
She and Jesse Palmer were married in the State of Ohio, October 6, 1850. Ten children were born to them seven of them preceded the mother in death. Those who survive her are W.R. and O.C. Palmer of Albia and J.E. of Avery, Iowa, C.C. of Eddyville and Hannah Palmer Hammond of Nelson, Nebraska., have passed to the great beyond since the father's death some nine years ago.
She and her husband left Ohio in 1854 and came to Muscatine County, Iowa where they made their home until 1856, during this year they moved to Eddyville, where they resided for a time and from there they moved onto a farm four miles east of Eddyville, where they made their home until 1867, moving from this farm onto the farm north of Avery, where they made their home until the death of Mr. Palmer, which occurred in November 1910. Since the death of her husband, Mrs. Palmer has made her home in Eddyville. She came to visit her son, Oscar some three weeks ago and while apparently well, took suddenly ill last Tuesday Morning, July 22, and grew gradually worse until the end, which came early Saturday morning, and the spirit of htis gentle, yet most noble woman, went home to be with her loved ones who had preceded her to a better land.
Besides the three living sons, she leaves to mourn her going ten grandsons, seven grand daughters, twenty-four great grand children and five Great Great Grand Children. Mrs Palmer was brought up in the Quaker faith. She was a sweet spirited Christian woman.
Her Funeral services were held at the home of her son Oscar, on Monday July 28th at 10:00 a.m. Rev. B.W. Pettit conducted the services and spoke words of comfort to all the surviving friends. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wilkinson sang three beautiful duets.
Following the services at the home her body was tenderly borne by her ten grandsons, who were her pall bearers, to the auto hearse and was taken across the country to the Highland Cemetery at Eddyville, where it was lowered to its last rest along side her loved ones who had preceded her in death, and who like hers are resting in the silent, yet beautiful little city of marble, overlooking the city of Eddyville, and hte beautiful Des Moines valley, where she had aged in the long ago.
