Services for Jackie Bohn Towery, age 73 of Thorndale will be 10a.m. Saturday, November 29, 2008 at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home with burial in the Salty Cemetery.
Visitation, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, November 28, 2008 at the funeral home.
Jackie Bohn Towery passed away on Tuesday, November 25, 2008 in the Seton Hospital in Austin. He was born May 12, 1935 to Rufus Mark and Edna Lucille Towery in Salty. He graduated from Thorndale High School.
Bohn married his high school sweetheart Lou Ann Shavers on December 23, 1953. He went to work for Alcoa Operations after their marriage and continued to work there for 40 years before retiring. He was presently working for Maxwell Dodge Dealership in Taylor for the past 11 years.
Bohn is preceded in death by his father, Mark Towery.
Bohn loved his many years of calf roping and had great passion for the sport of rodeo. He had a super mare named Treon who gave him many years and numerous wins. He always said "There is nothing in this world like riding a good horse" and "a man is given one good horse in a life time and she was it." He took great joy in watching his grandkids and great grandkids participate in all their activities such as sports, cheerleading and rodeo. He was so proud of each and every one of their accomplishments. Bohn was always good for a joke or two and made everyone he met laugh each and every day.
He is survived by his beloved wife and companion of 55 years, Lou Ann Towery of Thorndale. Sons, Mike Towery and Jerry Towery of Thorndale, Stevie Towery and wife Donna of Lexington. Daughter, Sue Ann Burlin and husband Larry of Victoria. Grandchildren, Toby Towery and wife Salina, Ross Towery, Ryan Towery, Sarah Towery, Sydnee Towery, Ricky Towery, Joshua Towery, Naomi Towery, Tanner Towery, and twins Brandon Burlin and Brittany Burlin. Great grandchildren, Hunter Towery, Rylee Towery, Colton Jack Towery and soon to be new arrival, Shaylee Ann Towery. His mother, Lucille Towery of Rockdale. Sisters, Dana Caffey of Rockdale, Sandra Braswell and husband Bill of Austin, Molly Wilson and husband Jay of South Dakota along with many relatives and friends.
He touched the life of so many people and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
