Egyptian Priestess. She was born during Egypt's 18th Dynasty, and was a member of the nobility in her home town of Akmin. She held many important official posts, including "Singer of Hathor" and "Superintendant of the Harem" for the God Min. She was the mother of Queen Tiye, the Great Royal Wife of Amenhotep II, and was also the grandmother of Akhenaten's Queen, Nefertiti and mother of Tutankhamen's successor, Ay. On her death she was given the unusual privilege of burial in the Valley of the Kings. Her tomb was discovered in 1905, and it is famous for the fine furniture and chariots it contained. Her well preserved mummy is now kept in the Egyptian Museum, Cairo.
