Johnny Thomson was one of the best and most popular race drivers of all time. Johnny started his career in the midgets in New England and rapidly became a top sprint car driver where he won two Eastern sprint car titles, one in AAA in 1954 and one in USAC in 1958. Johnny started in eight Indianapolis 500 races. Johnny died in a USAC Sprint Car race at Allentown, Pa. on Sept. 24, 1960.
