Mrs. Janie Pendley Johnson, age 99 of Atlanta passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2011. Born June 10, 1912 in McDonough, she was the daughter of the late John Thomas & Eulalia Bishop Pendley. Prior to her marriage to the late Edward Keith Johnson she graduated from the Creighton Business College and was employed by the Farm Securities Administration. She is survived by her daughter Kay Johnson Grimes, 3 Grandchildren Greg Grimes (Rachel), Marla Grimes, and Heather Forrester (Jonathan), brother, Robert Lamar Pendley of Kingwood Texas, 4 great Grandchildren April Grimes, Abby Grimes, Natalie Forrester and Nick Forrester, and several nieces. For years she was a Sunday school teacher and piano player for the Beginner class at First Baptist Church of Avondale Estates as well as a Girl Scout Leader of retired Troop #435. Later she was an active member of Briarlake Baptist Church. She resided in Statesboro, GA for twelve years before returning to the Atlanta area in 1999. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 29, 2011 at 11:00AM from the graveside in the McDonough City Cemetery, with Dr. Truett Gannon officiating. A.S. Turner and Sons, Decatur. GA.
