US Congressman. Graduating from Northwestern University and earning his law degree at Kent School of Law in Chicago, he practiced law until enlisting in the Army serving as a Captain during World War II. He received a bronze Star and the Purple Heart after being wounded in France. After being discharged from the Army, he resumed his law practice in Chicago until moving to Florida in 1949. He ran for the Broward County Commission in 1959 and became the first Republican elected to public office in that area. From 1956 to 1958 he served as commission chairman. In 1966 he became one of the first Republican congressmen from Florida since the Reconstruction era. He served on the Select Committee on Narcotics Abuse Control, the House of Administration Committee and the House Foreign Affairs Committee and its Subcommittee on Asia and Pacific Affairs. He retired in 1978 after losing re-election.
