Husband of Nancy Wilderman.

Military: Robert S. Small served as a Private in Company G, Sixth Missouri Cavalry during the Civil War. He joined at Rolla, Missouri on 13 September 1861, and was discharged from service on a Surgeon's Certificate of Disability, 30 November 1863 at or near New Iberia, Louisiana. While on duty as Provost Guard in New Orleans, his horse fell on him, severely injuring his chest and stomach. He was described in his military records as 5 feet 11 inches tall, fair complexion, grey eyes, light hair, and by occupation when enlisted, a farmer. Later he was a doctor at Gainesville, Missouri, and served as mayor.
