Ruth and her husband, Alf Emanuel Johnson, were married on Ruth's 22nd birthday, December 19, 1934. From 1934 to 1960 they lived in the Wilton and Regan area where she cooked for coal miners at the mines that her husband managed and later farmed with her husband. In 1961, they moved to Bismarck, where Ruth was employed by J.C. Penny. After retiring, she worked part-time at Kirkwood Plaza until 1986. Ruth enjoyed traveling, crocheting, gardening and canning. Ruth and Alf loved to spend their winters in Zapata, Texas, with their many friends. They spent the summers at their home in Bismarck, North Dakota. Ruth and Alf were together until Alf's death in 1996, less than one month shy of their 62nd wedding anniversary.
She is survived by her three children and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alf Johnson; one grandson, Joseph Sprynczynatyk, one granddaughter, Brenda Lou Sprynczynatyk LaKosky; her sister, Charlotte Marie Wilmot Strand, and her parents, Charles Bunnell Wilmot and Nora Catherine Michelsen Wilmot Davenport.
