James was the son of John Michael Blue III and Jane Stout Blue. He married Sarah Elizabeth Godfrey, on December 30, 1875 in Jackson Township, Union County, Ohio. They were the parents of 6 children that I am aware of; Bertha Belle, Effie Ethel, John Leroy, Clyde Cleveland, an unnamed infant who died in 1889 and Mabel May. James was also the father of a daughter Elma Etta. Elma was born out of wedlock to James and a neighbor girl, Lois Parish, after an overnight liason when he was 21 years of age.
