Mrs. Bessie J. Atkinson
Elon College - Mrs. Bessie Jordan Atkinson, 81, of Elon College, died suddenly in Burlington hospital last night at 5 o'clock.
A native of Wayne County, she was first married to the late F. B. Jordan, and her second husband was the late Moses A. Atkinson. She was the daughter of the late Henry and Betty Jernigan Bizzell and was a member of the Elon College Community Church.
Surviving are one son, Henry B. Jordan of Burlington; four daughter's , Mrs. Marshal Browning, Mrs. Ben Thompson and Mrs. Floyd Thompson, all of Burlington, and Mrs. Lee Huffines of Gibsonville; one stepson, Kennon Jordan of Goldsboro; three sisters, Mrs. Mattie Adams, Miss Estelle Bizzell and Mrs. Lela Underwood all of Clinton; 18 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted tomorrow afternoon at 3 o'clock at McClure Funeral Home in Burlington by Rev. W. J. Andes, pastor of the Elon College Community Church, assisted by Rev. Henry Bizzell.
The body will remain at the funeral home through the service
