Edna was the daughter of Charles Percy and Ester M. Brooks Sturtevant. She married Karl Henry Bishop in 1910. She was a loving wife and mother to a daughter and son. Her interest were writing poetry and painting. She had a sense of adventure, which served her well as she and Karl moved lock, stock and barrel to ND in late 1910. Their first home was a mud dugout and later a frame wooden home. She stood by her husband in all his endevors and never complained about the rough times. About 1920 they moved to SD and set up housekeeping on a ranch, raising cattle and goats. Where ever she was, she found the time to write and paint. At age 50 she and Karl rode horseback to Dallas from FT Pierre SD. Upon arrival, Karl annouced they were staying so Edna hitch hiked back to SD by herself, to sell off the ranch and their belonging and moved her family to Texas where she lived until her death.
