Garfield lived on Route 10 in Waco. After the tornado he was taken to Providence Hospital but was dead upon arrival. He was the beloved son of Frank H. Nemmer, Sr. (born in Beruit, Syria) and Bettie Glauberg (born in Bellville, Texas). He was the beloved husband of Eva Nemmer and they had one child. He worked as a merchant and was at work when the tornado destroyed his building. He was buried in Rosemound Cemetery on May 15, 1953.
