Betty Jean Karr, 82, of Grove, Oklahoma, passed away in her sleep at the Grove Nursing home at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008.
She was born May 30, 1926, the eighth of nine children born to John Leroy Pigg and Maude Mae (Merrill) Pigg in Galena, Kansas.
She married William (Bill) Karr on April 11, 1947. They had two daughters, Linda and Billie Jean. William died Aug. 1, 1993, in Baxter Springs, Kansas. She had lived in the area all her life. She had been in failing health for the last two years.
She is survived by her two daughters, Linda Kay Jay (William), of Rogers, Arkansas. Billie Jean Highley (Jack), of Grove, Oklahoma. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Jody Zacny (Darren), of Springfield, Missouri, Scott Highley, of Joplin, Missouri, Kerry Jay, Krista Pierce (Thomas), Kayce Holt (Nick) and Kimberly Mabrito (Joshua), all of Rogers, Arkansas; seven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a good friend, Joan Jones.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008 at the Lowell Cemetery, Lowell, Kansas. Family will receive friends Wednesday (Nov. 19th, 2008) evening from 7 to 8 p.m. at Derfelt's Baxter Chapel, Baxter Springs, Kansas. Arrangements are under the direction of Derfelt's Baxter Chapel, Baxter Springs, Kansas.
Betty grow up in the Black Jack area of Galena…..
She was preceded in death by all her brothers and sisters….
