She was educated in the Chatham County School System. She later married the late Elbee Jackson and relocated to Woodbridge, Va. This union was blessed with three sons and one daughter, each of whom she made feel like her favorite.
She joined the Mt. Olive Baptist Church, in Wood-bridge, where she sang in the choir and served on the hospitality committee. Johnsie had a very successful career with the Department of Defense, Dewitt Arm Hospital, Fort Belvoir, Va., until her retirement.
During her career, she received numerous outstand-ing service awards as a dietician assistant and later as a medical administrative assistant in pediatrics and internal medicine.
In 1980, she married the late Robert Lowrance, Retired SSgt. U.S. Army, and enjoyed 17 wonderful years of marriage. They made their home in Fredericksburg, Va., and joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church where both were very active members. They relocated to Siler City, N.C., for a short time and united with Harris Grove Missionary Baptist Church where Johnsie served as church clerk. They later returned to Fredericksburg, Va., where they resided until Robert's death. Later, Johnsie relocated to Siler City, N.C., which remained her primary home until her death.
Johnsie loved spending time with family and friends and had a great sense of humor, and enjoyed listening to good gospel music, cooking and shopping. She will be sorely missed by her devoted Aunt, Kathleen Brower; four loving children, James Edward Jackson, Sr. (Anita), Frances Jean Guertin (Terry), Henry Grady Jackson (Deborah), and William Reid Jackson; seven grandchildren; eleven great- grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
A Homegoing Service for Mrs. Lowrance was held on Saturday, October 25, at Harris Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Siler City, N.C.
A Graveside service for family and friends will be held at Quantico National Cemetery, Triangle, Va., on Wednesday, October 29, 2008, at 12 noon, officiated by the Reverend Charles Wormley, Pastor of Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Fredericksburg, Va.
