Mrs. Mary Betts, 91, one of Princeville's older and highly respected residents, passed away in her home on Santa Fe St. last Wednesday morning after a six month illness.
She was a daughter of Michael and Ellen Wahlen Ryan and was born in Chicago October 25, 1867. She was united in marriage to Alva W. Betts July 27, 1893. He and one daughter preceded her in death. The Betts resided in Princeville for many years.
Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Lillian Dancer of Princeville, Mrs. Nellie Westefer of Wyoming, Mrs. Loretta Varner of Ft. Myers, Fla., Mrs. Mollie Hammer of Edelstein, Mrs. Katherine Lewis of Dubuque, Ia., two sons, William of Williamsfield and Clement of Stark, 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held in St. Mary of the Woods church in Princeville with Rev. Ralph Gates in charge. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Pallbearers were James McDermott, Dale Hammer, Williams Betts, and Raymond, Robert and LaVern Westefer.
