Susan Bernetta Greenwell's parents were James Robert Greenwell and Sara Winifred Brown. On February 13, 1917 she married Joseph Lawrence Pike at the St. Mary Magdeline's Church in Payneville, KY. Soon thereafter, they moved to Tulsa. They had four children together:
