Reynolds Laughlin moved from Coal Valley, Pa to New Kensington, Pa in 1898. He lived in New Kensington for 42 years. He served as police chief of New Kensington in 1900 and was a member of the first volunteer fire department. Several years later he was appointed to fill an unexpired term as justice of the peace for two years, following which he was elected to that office for two more terms. In 1934 he was elected to a six -year term as alderman. He died after a lengthy illness. Funeral services were held at his home 128 Ridge Ave. Rev. E. L. Boetticher, pastor of the First Methodist Church, which Reynolds was a member, officiate. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery.
