Fay E. Hayes, 80, of Martinsburg died at 5:50 P.M. April 26, 1994, at Ottumwa Regional Health Center.
She was born October 3, 1913, in Monroe Co.to Charles Benjemmon Byrum and Clara Edna Lathrop Byrum. She married Cecil Merle Hayes on July 27, 1932. He died June 5, 1990.
She grew up in Blakesburg and was a resident of Martinsburg for more than 40 years. She did baby sitting and helped raise a family of 10.
She is survived by a sister, Grace Kelley of Hedrick; and three brothers, Owen Byrum of Packwood Route 1, Clifford Byrum of Kooskia, Idaho, and Lawrence Byrum of Wickenburg, Arizona.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Eugene Burm; and an infant sister.
The service will be 3 P.M. Friday at Mount Zion Church northeast of Martinsburg, the Rev. George King officiating. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery.
Visitation will begin after 1 P.M. today at Recce Funeral Home in Ottumwa. Family visitation will be from 7 to 8: 30 P.M. at the funeral home.
