The 1769 birth date is due to a confusion with a Caty Seward who was born in Christchurch, Middlesex County, VA, 23 May 1769 who was not the Caty Seward married to Nathaniel Freeman in 1801. The Caty Seward who was born in Christchurch married Henry Kidd there in 1786, raised a family and never moved from Christchurch. Yet another Caty Seward is also often confused with the Caty who married Nathaniel. That Caty Seward, granddaughter of Drury Malone, married Edward Moore, raised a family and lived in Brunswick County, VA, until at least 1820. Both those Caty Sewards are often confused with the Caty Seward, of unknown parentage, wife of Nathaniel Freeman.

This is a memorial headstone and a loving gesture to my third great grandparents. Caution should be used here. Catherine (Seward) Freeman's birth and death dates are not correct. She was most likely born about 1775 and died in August, 1849.
