James Hampton Wilhite, 64, entered into rest March 25, 1981, in Houston. Jim was born on March 7, 1917 in Arnett, Okla., to Charles A. and Della M. "Casey" Wilhite, lived in La Grange, TX until 1935. Resided in Houston for the past 40 years.

Mr. Wilhite retired from the United States Postal Service. Served in the United States Marine Corps. during World War II.

He was a member of Mt. Houston Masonic Lodge No 1359, where he served as Master, and charter member. Also member of the Imperial Council of A.A.O.N.M.S. Shriners.

Survivors: Daughter, Linda Childress, Lewisville; (James), son, James Hampton Wilhite, Jr., Houston, TX.; sisters, Juanita Durrenberger, Richards, TX.,(Walter) Jennie Martin, Corpus Christi, TX., (Arthur) Edith M. Dollar, Indianapolis, Indiana and Ruthene Milford, Tahlequah, Okla.,(Owen) brothers, Art Wilhite, New Mexico,(Mattie) and W. W. Wilhite, Magnolia, Arkansas, and six (6) grandchildren all of Lewisville, Texas, James Russell Childress, Jr., (Rusty), David Wayne Childress, (Bo), Barbara Ann Childress, Joseph Edwin, (Joey), Casey Allen Childress, and Amy Lyn Childress.

Services Friday, March 27, 1981, at 1 p.m. Chapel of the Garden. Interment in Houston National Cemetery, with the Rev. Richard L. Irving officiating.

Masons will serve as pallbearers. Pat H. Foley & Company. Chapel of the Gardens. 1200 W. 34th St.
