Husband of 1st Rosetta Lombard in 1871. Rosetta died 1876. He married 2nd Cynthia M Copper in 1882.

John and Rosetta were the parents of 2 sons: Marshall N Campbell born 10 Jan 1872 Wisconsin and Robert Campbell born 28 Oct 1874 Wisconsin.

John Campbell, aged 70 years, died of general debility last Saturday night at Spring Valley and the remains were shipped to Lincoln, Neb., the following day for internment, being accompanied by Mr and Mrs R E Palmer, his son-in-law and daughter. The deceased had been out west but two months. The body was prepared for burial by Undertaker Ray Durnford of Beeman & Cashin's.

The body of John Campbell, aged 70 years, who died in Spring Valley, Wyoming arrived in the city at 11 a.m. and was immediately interred in Wyuka cemetery. Short services were read at the grave. Mr Campbell had been a resident of University Place for a good number of years and removed to Spring Valley, Wyo, where his daughter and son reside, July last. He is survived by two daughters and one son, Mrs Robert Palmer of Spring Valley, Wyo; Mrs Percy Grass of Page, Neb; and Earl Campbell of Spring Valley.
