Funeral services for Joseph J. Shane of Wyoming, 80, were held in St. Dominic’s Catholic church in Wyoming at 10 am Saturday with Rev. Bernard Dempsey officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Gerald Shane, John Shane, Roger Donovan, Danny Donovan, Kenneth McGarvey, Garland Shane, Terry Shane and Larry Shane.
Mr. Shane died Thursday morning, February 15, 1962 in St. Francis Hospital in Peoria, after a long illness.
A son of James and Martha Nelson Shane, he was born in Peoria county October 23, 1881. He was united in marriage to Florence Colgan in Wyoming April 10, 1912.
He is survived by his widow; six daughters, Mrs. Kenneth McGarvey of Castleton, Mrs. Charles Donovan of Wyoming, Mrs. Leonard Sendelbach of Henry, Mrs. Louis Strack of Tonica, Mrs. Clarence Sendelbach of Henry, and Mrs. Thomas Donovan of Chillicothe; five sons, Nelson of Chillicothe, Maurice of Staten Island, NY, and Leonard, Edmund, and Robert, all of Wyoming; 71 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Ann Brooks of Slayton, Minn.
He was preceded in death by one son, two sisters, and seven brothers.
The rosary was recited in the Cox Memorial Home in Wyoming Friday night.
