Word has been received by relatives in this city of the death of Mrs. James Vieregg, of Central City, which occurred at Santa Monica, Cal., on Monday after a rather extended illness. Mrs. Vieregg had gone to California about a year ago in the hope of benefiting her health. The deceased is a sister of Mrs. Lizzie Turner, of this city, and is well known here, having visited in the city on many occasions. Her husband, James Vieregg, is a brother of Henry Vieregg, and was one of the first settlers in Hall county, locating in Central Nebraska alone with the late Mr. Hedde, and other pioneers. Before coming to Hall county, however, he took up the first homestead ever filed in Merrick county and later returned to that county, where the family is well and favorably known.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Vieregg is survived by one son and three daughters. One son and two daughters also preceded their mother in death. The remains will be brought to Central City for interment, the funeral services taking place from the home on Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock.
