Funeral service for Alf Arnold Vinje, 88, Columbia Heights, took place Oct. 15 at King of Glory Church. Rev's. David Hintze, Gerald Peterson and Richard Krogen officiated.

He farmed for many years in the Traill County area, in eastern North Dakota, before moving to the Twin Cities area in 1955.

He was in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII & served on a B-24 bomber as the radio operator / waist gunner in the Phillippine Theatre.

He was a retired warehouseman, resort worker, and golf course groundskeeper.

He is survived by his wife, Elvina; son, John L.; grandchildren, Shane & Toni, Kjersti & Jacob; great-grandchildren, Joseph, Devante, Natasha; sister-in-law, Elsie; brother-in-law, Leonard Aamold; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Diane S.; three sisters: Clara; Myrtle Aamold; Ida A. Fincher; and two brothers: Johan S.; Erling O.; and, grand-daughter Amy Thompson.

Pallbearers were Shane Vinje, Mark and Dave Roen, Gary Aamold and Steve Swanson.

Honorary pallbearers were Ron, Mike and Rick Roen, Nancy Sorenson, Darlene Lansing, Toni Vinje, Vicki Nesheim, Gail Dobbins, Jim Nelson, Linda Schmelzer, Allen Aamold and Bruce Swanson.
