WILLIAM H. "Bill" WEATHERRED, 84, of Memphis, passed away Monday, November 3, 2008, after a brief illness. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Park Funeral Home, with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday evening. Bill was a long-time employee of the former Railway Express Agency, and he retired from ALSAC/St. Jude in 1988. He was actively involved in the Presbyterian church and was currently a member of Woodland Presbyterian Church. During World War II, he served in North Africa in the Army Air Corps. He helped to organize a group of WWII veterans from the North African Ferrying Division of the Air Transport Command. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Yvonne Tucker Weatherred; two daughters, Jan Weatherred and Susan Adkins of Memphis; son, William Weatherred Jr. of Alamo, TN; two grandsons, Jay (Lesley) Adkins of Memphis and Bryant (Dawn) Adkins of Houston, TX; two great-grandsons, and a sister, Mildred Roop. The family requests that any memorials be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Small Paws Rescue (Bichon Frise), 3316 S. 72nd W. Ave, Tulsa, OK 74107.
