Charley Joe Holder
Charley Joe Holder was born March 7, 1898 at Raymondville, Missouri, the son of Joseph D. Holder and Mary Amy Brackett Holder Wilson. He is shown in the 1900 U.S. Census Living in Jackson, Texas County, Missouri with his mother and Grandparents, Joel W. Brackett and Hannah Russell Brackett.
He was married to Connie Edith Staggs. They had one daughter, Daisy Holder, and three sons, Hershel Lee, Noble Noel, and Wilford Loren Holder. Times were hard for the young Holder family and about 1932 Edith left the family. Charley kept his children together. It was during the Great Depression and he did everything he could to support his family. They went to California but that didn't work out and they returned to Oklahoma to the Eufaula area. Charley and all of his boys enlisted in World War II. Hershel Lee was killed in combat at the age of twenty, in Italy.
His son, Wilford Loren, is grateful for all that his Dad did for them and said, "He was a good man". May he rest in peace.
