Entered into eternal rest on the morning of August 31, 2008, widower of Sheldonie Shirley Smoak Antley; resident of James Island, South Carolina.

The relatives and friends of Joseph Benjamin Ben Antley are invited to attend his funeral services at J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., West Ashley Chapel, Thursday morning, September 4, 2008, at eleven o'clock. Burial will follow in Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Stuhr's West Ashley Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway, Wednesday from five until seven o'clock.

Joseph was born on October 26, 1922 in Canadys, South Carolina, son of Joseph Cuthbert Antley and Ethel Eugenia Pickering Antley.

He served in the United States Navy during World War II and retired as a shipfitter from the Charleston Naval Shipyard Shop #11.

He was a member of Northbridge Baptist Church.

Surviving are two sons, Joseph Dale Antley of Lexington, KY and Samuel Lee Antley of Charleston, SC; two sisters, Dorothy Antley Neale of Charleston, SC and Mary Antley Blount of Aiken, SC; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Mr. Antley was preceded in death by a daughter, Annette Antley.

In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Northbridge Baptist Church, 1160 Sam Rittenberg Blvd., Charleston, SC 29407.
