Elizabeth H. Claxton was born in Albany on July 27, 1926, a daughter of Herbert and Isabel Lundy Hall. She was graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy in 1943.

She married David W. Claxton on July 16, 1946, at St. Mary's Cathedral, with Rev. John Ryan officiating. Mr. Claxton died Sept. 21, 1984.

Mrs. Claxton was first employed at the St. Lawrence State Hospital before going to work as a laboratory technician at the Sunmount Tuberculosis Treatment Center, Tupper Lake. She later worked for five years at the New York State Unemployment Office in Ogdensburg, and then for 18 years at Canton Agricultural and Technical College, where she became associate personnel administrator.

In 1982, Mrs. Claxton returned to the employ of the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center, retiring as assistant personnel administrator on Jan. 1, 1986.

She was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral parish and the Ogdensburg Home Bureau. She also enjoyed bowling and traveling.
