John was a soldier in the War of 1812, and served with the 6th Virginia Regiment in Norfolk, Va.
This burial site was very remote- we followed a road until it turned into a two-track. That was followed until we met a gate. We then walked about a mile through the woods until we found the graves.

Inscription
The stone has a backwards American Flag, as well as Major John Bell West, and death date.
Gravesite Details
Grave located on the "Old Fisher Farm" which is owned by a mining company. It is very remote and we were very lucky to find it.
