A heart attack was ascribed as the cause for the sudden death on Saturday morning of Augustus J. Bernheisel, of North Annville Township in the Harper's region. He resided with Charles Fields, son-in-law and family, on a farm in the northern section of the county. He had been suffering from a heart condition for some time and when he failed to return from a visit to the barn in mid-morning, his wife became worried and went to the barn to look for him. She found him dead on the barn floor at 11:30 o'clock. Dr. Paul D. Reich, of Jonestown, who made an investigation as a deputy county coroner, ascribed the demise to a heart attack. Mr. Bernheisel, a retired farmer was 75 years of age. He was a member of the Bunker Hill Evangelical Congregational Church. In addition to his wife, Sarah (Gundrum) Bernheisel, and the daughter with whom he resided, he leaves two sons and another daughter; Walter Bernheisel, and Esther, wife of Robert Daub, both of Bunker Hill; Frank Bernheisel, Lebanon. Twelve grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survive. [Lebanon daily News, March 28, 1949, Page 1]
