Bryne, the son of Oscar Bryne and Ozey (Thornburg) Stone, was a resident of Fargo, Oklahoma. He was educated in Cartersville and Keota before moving to Tulsa. He attended Lubbock Christian University from 1960 to 1961.

Bryne married Barbara E. "Bobbie" Martin in May 1961 in Tulsa. They lived in Alva for a few years where Bryne was the Morton Food distributor.
