Gloria Marilyn Peoples Bell was born on August 23,1939 to the late Worthy & Beatrice Peoples. Her Formal education was in the Detroit Public School System. She was baptised and received the gift of the Holy Spirit at Clinton Street Greather Bethlem Temple.

She was preceeded in death by two sisters, Elsie Mallet, and Johnnie Joyce Peoples, and also by two brothers. Calvin Peoples and David Peoples. Three weeks after my mother's passing, her younger sister Beverly Mcdougle also passed. My grandmother lost four children in the span of six months.

On May 27, 1961 Gloria was united in Holy Matrimony with Charles Bell. To this union, one child was born. Monica Sherrill.

After a brief illness, Gloria was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 18, 2000 at 1:55 a.m.

What could I possibly say about my mother. Her passing, left a big hole in my life. She was my best friend. She was a warm and giving person, who would give the shirt of her back, if the need arised. My mother passed the month before her first grandchild arrived. My daughters middle name is in honor of my mother. Her name is Sierra Marilyn.

This was a poem that I wrote for her.

A Mother's Gift

You have given me the gift of compassion. Your concern for others took precedence over your own problems. You were always able to put yourself in the place of others and feel their pain. Your example made me recongnize the importance of human warmth and understanding. You have given me the gift of Frienship. Not only were you my best friend, but you extended your hand in friendship to many, expecting nothing in return. If you saw a need, you didn't wait to be asked. I learned from you that joy comes from being a friend. You have given me the gift of love. Your love was unconditional, and freely given. You taught me that the capacity to love has no limitations. That love is a self-perpetuating gift. Many people love you for your generosity of spirit, but no one loves you more than I do. I will be eternally grateful for these gifts that you have bestowed upon me. I will always love you Mommy.

Ten years ago today, God saw that you were getting weary and took you home to rest. Although we wanted you to stay for our own selfish reasons, we know He knew best. So today, we remember you with love. We miss you mom.

Her eyes were dim and glassy as she gazed into the sky,
She knew she was getting weaker, she knew that she would die
The Lord wrapped his arms around her and took her by the hand.
He said "come with me my darling, to rest in God's eternal land.
The years have passed so quickly and still we miss you so,
There are times when I can hardly wait till its my time to go.
We know God picks the time and place to take our loved ones home,
But it is so hard to accept the loss when its one of your very own.

We know others have lost their loved ones, and this we cant explain
And we know it must break God's heart to see his children in such pain.
We cannot judge what happens when tears and questions start,
We only see what is visible, but God sees into the heart.

To some you are forgotten, to others just a dream
But to us who love and miss you those memories ripple like a stream.
God looked around his garden and saw an empty space
He then took look around the earth and saw your suffering face.
He put his arms around you and lifted you to rest,
God's garden must be beautiful, cause He only takes the BEST
