BOWMAN, SARAH J.

After a long painful illness Mrs. Sarah J. Bowman, wife of J. J. Bowman died on Saturday night April 7, aged 66 years. Another of our kindest and best of friends and neighbors has forever left the little village of Allemans, which has been her home for over 40 years, and for most of that time she has been a faithful worker in the Sunday School. For years she had charge of the infant class, and many of her scholars are men and women now, far from the home of their childhood, yet others filled their places. She was generous and kind almost to a fault, always think and planning for the comfort and happiness of others. Mrs. Bowman was the mother of nine children, three of whom are living, viz: John Spangle and Mrs. Charles McMonigal , of Portage; children of her first marriage; and Lewis Bowman, of Sonman, all of whom were with her the week preceding her death. All that loving hands could do and medical skill could aid was done, but of no avail. She was a faithful member of the United Brethren church, This charge being without a pastor, Rev. Ibach of the Lutheran church kindly took charge of the service. His sermon was most appropriate and fitting for the occasion Mrs. Bowman's maiden name was Richard. She was born at what was then called the Richard and Bell Improvement in Reade township where the town of Lloydsville is now located. Her journey is over, portion of her life was rough and thorny, but her happy disposition never failed her and now cometh rest and everlasting peace.
