She was a native of Waycross, but she resided for 26 years in California before moving back to Waycross in 1994. She recently was employed by Wal-Mart in the accounting office, but she also worked in the restaurant business and as a bank teller during her life. She was a member of Second Baptist Church and the Faithful Sunday School Class.
She is the daughter of the late James Arthur Howard and Lenora Bowen Howard. She is preceded in death by one son, Leon Marable; one daughter, Bonnie Verhage; and three brothers, Willard, James and Charles Howard.
Survivors include her husband of 41 years, John H. Baugh of Waycross; two daughters, Donna Means (Billy) of Athens, and Michelle Smith (Ken) of Waycross; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren; two sisters, Carolyn Lydeen (Leroy) of California, and Lillian Thieme (Richard) of Waycross; one brother, Harold Howard (Geri) of Lake City, FL; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Friday (April 17, 2009) at Second Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday at Music Funeral Home.
The Faithful Sunday School Class is asked to meet 12:30 p.m. Friday at the church to serve as honorary pallbearers.
