Bill was born June 13, 1933 in Osage. He graduated from the Orchard Consolidated School in 1951. Bill joined the Air Force in Feb. 1952 and served in Korea from Dec. 1952 to Jan. 1954. On June 14, 1952 Bill married Ruth Grinstead. After ten years in the military Bill and his family returned to the Riceville/Osage area.
Bill was preceded in death by his father, Frank Johnson; his mother Velma Bennett Johnson; and his daughter in 2005, Randi Jo Krukow.
Bill is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ruth Ann Grinstead Johnson; his son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Teresa (Tegtmeier) Johnson of Cedar Falls; sister Velma and her husband Kenny Bauer of LeRoy, MN; brother James and his wife Ardyce of Maryville, WA; three grandsons, Jamie Krukow and his wife Tara of Riceville; Joseph Krukow and his wife Sarah, of Osage; and Jacob Krukow of Des Moines. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren, Joshua and Jimmy, and Brianna, Emily and Cael; and many nieces and nephews.
Bill will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
