Mary graduated from C. E. Byrd High School in Shreveport, Caddo Parrish, Louisiana in 1954. In 1958 she graduated from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas with a BS degree in Social Science.
Mary was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who made a difference in the lives of everyone she touched. She was active all her life in church work. Some of the things she participated in were choirs, youth work, bell choir, hospital visitor, Flower Team chairman, food committees, and prayer circle. She also participated in Gamma Phi Beta sorority alumnae, and the Texas Instruments-Austin Retiree's Club (TI-ARC). She was a loyal supporter of any sport played by her children or grandchildren.
Mary was preceded in Death by her parents and her younger brother, Gene Fisher.

Funeral services were on 22 September 2008 at Bethany United Methodist Church in Austin with Burial at Central Texas State Veteran's Cemetery, Kileen, Texas.
