Scynthia (Cynthia) was the 6th of 9 children (5 sons and 4 daughters) born of Elihu Phillips (1761-1799) and his wife Elizabeth Spear (1760-1839). Cynthia's siblings were: Betsey (1783-1870), Clarissa (1785-1868), Elam (1791-1876), Thankful (1796-1844), Moses (1799-1848), Horace, Squire, and Elihu.

Cynthia married Wm. Weed (1784-1849) by whom she had possibly eight children (3 sons and 5 daughters): Elihu Phillips (1807-1879), Selah (Seeley) Sherman (1808-1898), John Parker (b. 1810), Elizabeth (b. 1812) and 4 daughters names not known.
