He married Cassandra Dintaman and fathered Jennie K. (b. 07/30/69 - married Amos Dunkle). He later moved to Steelton, Dauphin County, where he became a member of Lascomb Post No. 351, G.A.R., and where he died at his daughter Jennie's home following a lengthy illness. All of his obituaries spell his surname "Barnett," but his pension index spells it as shown on the tombstone.
