Mrs. Evelyn M. Askew, 50, died at Hancock Memorial Hospital
on Monday night after a long illness. She was a native of Greene County but had lived in Hancock County for a number of years and had many friends who were grived at her passing.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. in the Siloam Baptist Church with the Rev. G. Guy Walton, Sr., officiating. Burial was in the churchyard with Patterson Funeral Home in charge.
Survivors include her husband; six sons, Durelle Askew, of Tennille; Jimmy Askew, of U.S.Army, Fort Gordon; Neil, Kenneth, Ricky and Randy, all of Sparta, three daughters, Mrs. Bill Moncriel, of Siloam; Mrs. Geraldine Landrum, of Sparta; Mrs. Brenda Elliott, of Cumming, Ga. Four sisters, Mrs. Helen Batchelor, of White Plains; Mrs. Ruth Cheek, of Forsyth; Mrs. Kate Johnson, of Augusta; Mrs. Mary Anna Johnson, of Sparta, two brothers, Richard and Gene Marchman, both of Augusta.
Fifteen grandchildren and other relatives.
