The Odebolt Chronicle - Thu, Aug 16, 1894 - A young woman, whose death in Lake City from the effects of a criminal operation was reported in last weeks Chronicle, resided near Grant City. Her name was Rhoda Ayers. It has been reported that her betrayer was a young man named D.P. Minard, also a resident of Sac township. Minard was with her when she died and afterwards disappeared.

The Odebolt Chronicle - Thu, Nov 22, 1894 - It is reported that D.P. Minard of Grant City has been indicted by the grand jury of Calhoun county. He is accused of causing the death of a young woman with whom he had been too intimate. The girl died in Lake City some time ago from the effects of an abortion.

The Chronicle - Thu, Dec 9, 1897 - D.P. Minard, a former resident of Grant City, who was sent to the penitentiary two years ago for being accessory to the death of Miss Rhoda Ayers, has been pardoned by the governor. There were grave doubts of his guilt when he was convicted.
