A life-long resident of Bulloch County, Akins was a farmer, a Baptist and a member of Portal Hunting Club.
Surviving, all of Statesboro, are his wife, Mrs. Carlene Clayton Akins, a daughter, Ms. Tanya A. Finch; two sons, Tony E. Akins and Tab Akins; his mother, Mrs. Clifford C. Burke; a sister, Ms. Thetis Campbell; a brother, Billy C. Akins; and two grandchildren.
Funeral, 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Hodges-Turner Funeral Home, burial in Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery.
