Published obituary
Emil C Anderson, Jr of Mission Hills, Kansas, passed away Sunday, September 28, 2008 at Kingswood Manor Nursing Home. Burial services will be held at 2:30 pm Thursday, October 2, in the Committal Shelter at the National Cemetery, Leavenworth, Kansas.

Emil was born July 6, 1923 in Vinita, Oklahoma, to Emil Sr and Lorene (Ridenhour) Anderson. He grew up in Kansas City, Kansas and attended Wyandotte High School. Soon after his graduation in 1941, he volunteered for the United States Marine Corps and served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. Emil met and married his wife Dolly Eloris Ralston, also a Marine, while both were still on active duty. After their discharges, they entered the University of Kansas where they earned their undergraduate and their law degrees, graduating in 1953. During their sojourn in California he helped construct the original Disneyland in Anaheim, California. Returning to Kansas City, Kansas in 1955, Emil and Dolly established their own law firm and practiced together for more than forty years. For many years Emil was active as a Boy Scout Master, boys' church league basketball coach, and a member of the West Gate Masonic Lodge. His passions included hunting, fishing, trekking, horsemanship, scuba diving, flying, gardening, wildlife conservation, and history of the American West. During his retirement, he served as a volunteer for the National Forestry Service in Kemmerer, Wyoming and Elko, Nevada, and remained active in the local Marine Corps League.

He is survived by his wife Dolly; brother Charles M Anderson; son Andrew (Donna) Anderson; daughters Andra (Philip) Cochran and Sandra Snyder; and grandchildren Andrew Mark Anderson, Adam Lance Snyder, Eloris Ann Snyder, and Jesse Andrew Cochran.
