Virginian-Pilot (Norfolk, VA) Wednesday, November 23, 1977 - TACOMA, WASHINGTON -
RICHARD H. AGNEW SR, Colonel, a retired Army Colonel, Age 67, a 1935 graduate of the Military Academy, West Point, died, Saturday, November 11, 1977 in the Veterans Hospital near here. His widow now lives at 4004 Ocean Front, Virginia Beach. A native of Central City, Nebraska, he served 3 years in the Philippine Islands before World War II and 3 years in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He served in Europe for 3 years before going to Korea in 1958. He was former commander of Fort Lawton, WA in 1964. His numerous decorations include the Legion of Merit. Besides his widow, survivors include a son, Air Force Captain RICHARD H. AGNEW JR, stationed in Washington, DC; 2 daughters, Mrs. WILLIAM J. MCAWEENEY of Madison, Wisconsin and Mrs. DAVID GOLDBERG of Washington. A funeral was held Thursday, November 16, 1977 in the cemetery at the West Point Military Academy.
