'Obituary
"Amid the joys of Christmas ? ? ness to us able ???? Dec 39th, ???respected friend and neighbor, Mr Sheldon Remington, had ? from this earth to his eternal rest. Mr Remington had long been a sufferer from heart trouble and when the angel of death seemed to hover near, those who were near and dear to him, were called to his beside, (that's the way it was spelled), but all that medical skill, loving hearts and tender hands could do, could not stay the hand of death. He bore his suffering with great patience and fortituted and when, his suffering seemed to be the greatest, he spoke these words, "His Will, Not Mine," which will long be a comfort to those who are left to mourn the loss of a kind and loving husband and father.
Mr Remington was a man of splendid personal qualities and his kindly ways and pleasant smile won many friends who will feel a personal loss in his death.
The deceased was born in the year 1848, in Mahaska County, Iowa, where he grew to manhood. In (17 Sep) 1868 he was united in marriage to Miss Elmira D. Tandy. To this union were given nine children, two having preceeded their father to the better world. (They include Charles Elmer)
In 1883 Mr Remington moved with his family to Nebraska, where he has since made his home, the last two years being spent in Chambers and vicinity.
The deceased is survived by his wife and seven children, Mrs L. W Lewis of Kearney, Nebr; Mrs Chas Essley of Maxwell, Nebr; Mrs O E Gentry of Proctor, Colo; Mrs W Headlee of Chambers, F. O. Remington of Silver Creek, Nebr; Chas E and F C Remington of Amelia. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
The funeral services was held Friday morning at the Methodist church, Rev Ruttlage of Amelia officiating, assisted by Rev Fisher of Amelia, Rev Dysart and Rev Truscott of Chambers. The body was shipped to Kearney where funeral services were again held Sunday at 2 pm and the remains were laid to rest in the Kearney Cemetery."

"The funeral of Sheldon Remington, a former resident of Pleasanton, was held in this city on Sunday afternoon from the United Brethren church, Rev. E. P. Vannice officiating. Mr. Remington died at Chambers, Neb., on Friday and the body was sent to Kearney for interment. He is well known throughout the county, having lived near Pleasanton for many years prior to his removal to Chambers."
