Johnny Steven Carroll, 64, of Dyersburg, died Monday, June 9, 2008 at his residence.
He was a retired mechanic and heavy equipment operator, a member of Newbern Assembly of God, a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and an avid fisherman.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with the Rev. Keith Shelton officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors at 2-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon Lineberry Carroll of Dyersburg; four daughters, Karen Carroll Paschal and Monica Permenter, both of Dyersburg, Charlotte Shelby of Salem, Oregon and Kay Combs of Finley; four sons, Johnny Steven Carroll Jr. of Finley, Michael Carroll of Caruthersville, Mo., Clark Thompson of Newbern and Victor Thompson of Dyersburg; four sisters, Elizabeth Suarez of Newbern, Ann Tubbs and Reba Carroll, both of Ridgely and Dorothy Hill of Dyersburg; a brother, Malcolm Carroll of Waynesboro; 19 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Brian Steven Carroll; his parents, William and Tennie Carroll; and a brother, Jim Carroll.

Pallbearers will be his children.
