Belton Budget (From The Journal)
Mr. Sem Kegley died at his residence in this city [Belton, Texas] Saturday night, after an illness of several weeks. The deceased was one of our oldest and most respected citizens, and his remains were followed to their last resting place by a large concourse of mourning friends and relatives. He was born in Wythe county, Virginia, March 17, 1813, and came to Texas in 1840, settling in Lockhart. In 1851 he moved to Bell county, where he has since resided. He was married to Miss Sarah Ann Carpenter on September 2, 1855, who survives him. On July 16, 1876, he joined the Methodist church and remained an acceptable member until his death. To the bereaved family we extend our heartfelt condolence.
