Mr. Delton J. "Del" Cranford, 87, died Monday, Sept. 22, 2008 at Palmetto Health Richland in Columbia, S.C. The funeral was at 2 PM Thurs Sept 25 2008 at First Baptist Chuch, Chester, S. C. with the Rev Clay Waldrip officiating. Burial was in Chester Memorial Gardens, Chester, S.C.
Mr. Cranford was born Feb 16, 1921 in Eastman, Ga. He was the son of the late Lloyd Judson and Vera Fordham Cranford. He was a graduate of Chester High School, Chester, S.C. and attended Duke University. He retired from Chester County Hospital after 30 yrs service. He was a US Army Air Corp veteran of WWII and a member of First Baptist Church, Chester, S.C.
Surviving are his wife, Maude Ruth Clark Cranford; two sons, Roger D.Cranford (wife Michelle) of Blythewood, S.C. and Michael C. Cranford( wife Martha) of Fuquay Varina, N.C.,one grandson, Reed Cranford of Blythewood, SC;one sister, Lucille Haire of Rock Hill, S.C.; four brothers, Bill and Gene Cranford of Rock Hill, S.C. and Jack Cranford of California and David Cranford of Summerville, S.C.
He was preceeded in death by a sister, Wyolene C. Player.
The family received friends from 6 PM to 8 PM Sept 24 2008 at Barrons Funeral Home, 133 Wylie St., Chester, S.C.
