J. C. Allen, 82, a prominent resident of the Switzer neighborhood, passed away at the home of his son-in-law, Charles F. Barber, after a long illness. He was born in Scott County but had lived the greater part of his life at Switzer. Besides his wife, Mr. Allen is survived by seven children, Mrs. Charles (Lucy) Barber, Mrs. Frank Mitchell, Mrs. Mattie Estill, Mrs. Ben (Tabitha) Brumback, Samuel, William, and Walter Allen. Funeral services will be conducted at Switzer by the Rev. Benjamin Andres of the Southern Presbyterian Church. Burial will be at Switzer.

and 2. Matilda Jane Metz in 1878.
